Avid Outdoorsman, Business Executive
Joins RMEF Board of Directors

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is pleased to welcome Michael Steuert to its board of directors.

“Mike has a highly successful business background and a keen financial intellect. He really knows how to get things done,” said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO. “He also personally applied RMEF's mission to his own life with more than a decade of service to the foundation and by looking out for the elk and the elk habitat on his Montana ranch.”

“I have been a Life Member and supporter of RMEF for some time and am honored to join the board,” said Steuert. “I am committed to making a contribution to the foundation and its mission.”

Steuert recently retired as senior vice-president and chief financial officer of Fluor Corporation, a Fortune 500 company based in Irving, Texas. He was also CFO of Litton Industries of Woodland Hills, California, treasurer and CFO of GenCorp Inc. in Akron, Ohio, and worked at TRW Inc. in both Cleveland, Ohio, and Frankfurt, Germany.

Steuert and his wife, Debbie, developed a more intense interest for conservation and wildlife when they purchased a ranch north of Yellowstone Park. That passion developed into opportunities to participate in RMEF events as both buyers and donors. Mike also served on the RMEF finance and development committees.

“Development is the key to success. I'd like to help wherever I am able to do so. It's important to get RMEF's mission widely known,” added Steurt. “My vision is to greatly enhance RMEF's mission of habitat conservation, given the great successes of 2012, along with furthering our hunting heritage, with a focus on our youth.”

The Steuerts enjoy spending time at their ranch, working outdoors, hiking, riding and hunting in the surrounding mountains, fly fishing the Yellowstone River and enjoying the wildlife. Mike is also an avid gun collector.
